CELEBRATING EARTH DAY ALL YEAR!

Reprinted from wonderful EWG.org [extra inserts in parenthese]:

If you're like me, you constantly try to reduce your impact on the environment, but it's not always easy. In the spirit of one of my favorite holidays, I've put together some ideas for how you can celebrate Earth Day every day. Small steps can make a big difference.

Purify your morning routine: From shampoo to lotions to deodorant it's important to know what's in your brands. EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database is the original and most comprehensive cosmetics database. This is the go-to-resource for finding the safest personal care products. [SanRe rates fantasically well - though we're still waiting for our new pictures and USDA Organic updates to be integrated :-) ]

Greener dinners: Eat less meat and feed your family healthier meals. EWG's Meat Eater's Guide to Climate Change + Health is full of tips on how to eat and shop greener - with proteins that are better for your health and the environment.

Go outside: FoodCorps - a national non-profit organization that addresses childhood obesity by increasing vulnerable children's knowledge of, engagement with and access to healthy food - wants everyone to get out and garden. Last week, FoodCorps service members gathered in Washington to kick off planting season in local school gardens.

At the pump: E15 - vehicle fuel that is 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent pure gasoline - will be coming to gas pumps as early as this summer. This new fuel is not good news for consumers or the environment. Make sure you have all the information you need about E15 with the EWG Guide to Safer Fueling.

Don't get burned: Make sure your sunscreen has safe ingredients that will actually protect you. Check out the EWG Sunscreen Guide to shop for the best brands. And keep your eyes peeled - our 2012 update will be released soon. [SanRe rated at the very top 2011 Moisturizers with SPF. We just submitted again for our USDA Organic based products and are excited for inclusion.]

I hope you have a happy Earth Day!
